Old Fiction

All these stories are pretty much just here for nostalgic purposes, to reminisce about the old days of Pokémon fanfic and all that came before Silent Harmony. Many (most?) of these are unfinished, and never will be, either.

Snowdrift

Dated Mid-2000. Yeah, I warned you this stuff was old

Word Count 34 064

Chapters Prologue | One | Two | Three | Four | Five | Six | Seven | Eight | Nine | Ten | Eleven | Twelve | Thirteen | Fourteen | Fifteen | Sixteen | Seventeen | Eighteen | Nineteen | Twenty | Twenty-One | Twenty-Two | Twenty-Three | Twenty-Four | Twenty-Five | Twenty-Six | Epilogue

Backstories Gentle Shadow | Glacier's Story | Untamed Fire

Plot An Articuno has her egg stolen, so she leaves the mountains to look for it.

Notes My first ever creative piece that wasn't for school. Quite popular back in the Pokémon days. To be honest I probably haven't read it in a decade so I've forgotten what my prose was like back then. I warn you it's probably pretty purple, though. And probably full of Mary-Sues even though I do remember consciously trying to stay away from them. Sapphire almost definitely was one. Sorry, Sapphire. I was 15 what do you want from me?

Jewel of the Air

Dated Late-2000

Word Count 23 792

Chapters Incomplete Prologue | One | Two | Three | Four | Five | Six | Seven | Eight | Nine | Ten | Eleven | Twelve | Thirteen | Fourteen | Fifteen | Sixteen | Seventeen

Plot ...You know what? I totally forget. I don't think I had one. Sequal to Snowdrift, anyway. Snowdfall's son is the narrator, and thus concludes my knowledge.

Notes Yeah I got nothing. I had so much fun writing Snowdrift that I thought I'd write a sequel. It's been that long since I even looked at this that I honestly can't remember what it was about.

Black Albino

Dated 2001 to early 2002

Word Count 50 354

Chapters Incomplete One | Two | Three | Four | Five | Six | Seven | Eight | Nine | Ten | Eleven | Twelve | Thirteen | Fourteen | Fifteen | Sixteen | Seventeen | Eighteen | Nineteen | Twenty | Twenty-One | Twenty-Two | Twenty-Three | Twenty-Four | Twenty-Five | Twenty-Six | Twenty-Seven | Twenty-Eight | Twenty-Nine | Thirty | Thirty-One

Plot Aurinko, an albino blackalbino/ran, is ridiculed for her white fur amongst the other blackalbino/ran in her warren. By contrast, Kuu's black fur makes him loved and adored, despite being a tiny little thing.

Notes I loved this when I was writing it, thennnnn it started being a chore to write so I dropped it, alas. They were eventually going to meet up, but sadly that never happened, mostly because I started looking into writing original fiction instead. This was my baby back in high school. I felt at the time like I had been writing this for ages, but it couldn't have been much more than a year, looking at the timelines. My formative writing years!

Elemental

Dated Early 2002

Word Count 9640

Chapters Incomplete One | Two | Three | Four | Five

Plot That's the problem and why the fic never went anywhere: there was no plot. Basically, four school girls find out they're element girls. Beyond that? You know as much as I do.

Notes My first attempt at original fiction. Being as it resembled every magical-girl animé and also several teenage school girl 90s TV shows around at the time, it wasn't really all that original. Hrm... yes. Corny and crap, wai!

Feather

Dated Mid-2002

Word Count 1733

Chapters Incomplete Prologue | One (well, a bit of it)

Plot There was a drought somewhere in Pokémon land, so a group of Spearow decided to go look for Articuno to make it rain.

Notes This was a cute idea. I was going to do a short story for each of the bird Pokémon searching for Articuno, all for different reasons. Judging by the word count of part one, I was clearly dedicated to this one.

Emerald Feather

Dated Late-2002

Word Count 46 658

Chapters One | Two | Three | Four | Five | Six | Seven | Eight | Nine | Ten | Eleven | Twelve | Thirteen | Fourteen | Fifteen | Sixteen | Seventeen | Eighteen | Nineteen | Twenty | Twenty-One | Twenty-Two | Twenty-Three | Twenty-Four | Twenty-Five | Twenty-Six

Plot A catgirl discovers she has magic, but not just any magic. While all the other cat people on the island have earth, fire, water or air magic, Keena has the magic of death.

Notes This was the fic that made me think I could do NaNoWriMo, because I wrote this in about a month and a half. Started off as a random picture of a catgirl, who then got a little snippet of fic, which then expanded into a novel-length fic. Good on 'er! I'm still relatively happy with this one, mostly because it was the first original piece of fiction that actually had a plot and decent characters. As I said, sentimental, nostalgic value!

Harlequin

Dated Early 2003

Word Count 31 869

Chapters Incomplete One | Two | Three | Four | Five | Six | Seven | Eight | Nine | Ten | Eleven | Twelve

Plot Sequal of sorts to Emerald Feather. Some cat girl wanted revenge on humans for killing her family and succeeded in knocking out two villages on Umnikai (the island where EF was set) before she was interrupted. Some guy called Blade had sword magic and he was fun and awesome during the day then went batshit when the sun set. And then Mark, who thought he was human but was actually a cat person with animal magic, turned the story to corny crap and for some reason I chose him as the point of view character? Oh, teenage Narti, you had potential.

Notes Written on an EF high at the end of 2002/beginning of 2003, then my girls appeared to save me. Rereading the outline this could've been kinda cool and something I'd have been proud of. Alas, teenage-me was not that cool. Honestly, I don't know how I got as far with this one as I did. It's full of corny. So, so corny. And crap. Very corny and very crap.
